The Spirit and the Bride Say, Come — The Final Echo of Eden
Revelation 22:17
“And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.”
1. The Double Invitation of the End-Time
At the close of the Bible, the Spirit and the Bride unite their voices. This is not two voices in disagreement, but one harmonious cry: “Come.”
- Outward call to the world: To the thirsty, weary, and broken, the Spirit and the Bride together invite, “Come, and drink of the water of life freely” (Isaiah 55:1; John 7:37). This is the last gospel call before the door closes.
- Upward call to the Bridegroom: To the Lord Himself, the Bride joins the Spirit in crying, “Come, Lord Jesus” (Revelation 22:20). It is a longing for the final marriage supper and the restoration of all things (Acts 3:21).
Thus, the cry “Come” has two directions: one horizontal (toward humanity), one vertical (toward Christ).
2. The Spirit: God’s Eternal Life Restored
From the beginning, man was sustained by Spirit-life in Eden, not by blood-life. The Fall severed this flow, and man was cast out. Yet in Christ, the Spirit has returned to dwell in redeemed vessels (John 14:16–17).
- The Spirit now quickens the sons and daughters of God (Romans 8:11).
- The Spirit intercedes with groanings, aligning our voice with God’s will (Romans 8:26–27).
- The Spirit is the very breath of Eden restored, preparing a Bride fit for the Last Adam.
3. The Bride: Eve Restored in Purity
Adam’s bride fell in the Garden by believing the serpent’s lie. Christ, the Second Adam, has purchased His Bride with His own blood to restore her to purity (Ephesians 5:25–27).
- The Bride is clothed with the Word (Revelation 19:8).
- She has washed herself in the blood of the Lamb (Revelation 7:14).
- She has overcome deception, and her voice now echoes the Spirit’s voice in perfect agreement.
The Fall was caused by the Bride’s voice uniting with the serpent. The restoration comes when the Bride’s voice unites with the Spirit.
4. The Final Echo of Eden
In Eden, Adam and Eve were meant to expand the Garden not by sex-based generation, but by the spoken Word of life. After the Fall, generation came by blood and death entered. But now, in the last book of the Bible, the Spirit and the Bride together speak the Word again: “Come.”
- This is Eden restored—God and man speaking with one voice.
- The Bride has matured to full union with the Spirit, echoing the original design of Eden.
- The cry “Come” is not only an invitation but also a prophetic declaration: the Bridegroom is returning, Eden is opening, and the sons of God will drink freely of the Tree of Life.
5. The Completion of the Call
The call ends with three responses:
- The Thirsty – They hear and respond: “Come.”
- The Hearers – Every redeemed ear echoes the invitation.
- The Bridegroom – Jesus answers the call: “Surely I come quickly” (Revelation 22:20).
Thus, the Bible closes with a union cry: the Spirit, the Bride, the thirsty, the hearers—all voices aligned in Eden’s final echo.
Echoes of Eden Summary
The Spirit and the Bride saying “Come” is the restoration of what was lost in Eden. Once divided by the serpent’s lie, now Spirit and Bride are united in Word. This final echo invites the thirsty to eternal life and calls for the Bridegroom’s return, ushering the saints into the eternal Garden where they will drink freely of the water of life and live as sons forever.
